Finding Direction – Making Decisions

Artistic practice exists at the intersection of inner development and external reality. Creative processes demand sensitivity, openness and dedication – yet they also place high demands on self-management, direction and decision-making ability. As a coach, I support artists in gaining a clearer understanding of their own position and in consciously charting their own course.

A key focus of my work with artists is career path guidance. This involves clarifying professional direction, making sound decisions, such as when changing jobs, and maintaining mental stability in an environment characterised by change and uncertainty.

Freelancers in particular are constantly faced with the question of balancing artistic vocation and financial security. To help them find and maintain this balance, I support them in developing their entrepreneurial skills: understanding their market and clients, refining their profile, and presenting their unique selling points convincingly.

My work with artists constantly revolves around the core themes of self-confidence, motivation and creativity. Time and again, visions need to be developed, goals formulated, resources strengthened and obstacles overcome. Often, self-concepts and beliefs come to light in the process, which need to be analysed and integrated.

An important part of this work involves dealing with and transforming distressing emotions. Artistic practice often oscillates between vulnerability and assertiveness. External pressure must be managed just as much as internal stress in order to create a balance between relaxation and focus, and to achieve resilience and flow.

With this in mind, I also offer musicians very practical performance coaching. This involves addressing nervousness and anxiety surrounding performance or audition situations, building self-confidence, and using mental techniques to develop an inner sense of security that enables total presence at the crucial moment.
